Erie Ol' Red Cease & Desist ( Erie, PA )

The brewery is calling this one a Scott-ISH ale and we'll go a long, but the 10%-plus abv clearly falls in the Scotch Ale range. It's dark amber, big and malty and very nicely balanced. We'd love to know the story behind the name.

Erie Brewing Company
The modern day Erie Brewing Company opened in January 1994 as part of Hoppers Brew Pub in Union State. In 1999, it broke away to become a brewery in its own right, adding bottling capability. The original Erie Brewing company was founded in 1889 and closed in 1976. It had the Koehler, Olde Pub, Imperial brands and in the last part of its history when the Iroquois Brewery closed, it took over that brand.
