Chimay Grand Reserveis principally distinguished by its strong character. It begins with a pleasant aroma of fresh yeast with a light, flowery rosy touch . This top fermented Trappist beer , refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

Chimay
Chimay is the best known and best selling label among the Belgian Trappist Ales. The beers are brewed at the Abbaaye de Notre-Dame, located on a hillside close to a town of the same name, within walking distance of the French border. The abbey was built around 1850 and the brewery added a decade later. It has a history of taking beer production very seriously and was the first to use the "Trappist Beer" designation. After World War II the legendary brewing scientist Jean De Clerck was a major factor in re-establishing the brewery.
